2014 has proven to be one successful year for the John Butler Trio. In February this year John Butler and his band released ‘Flesh & Blood’, their 6th studio album, which debuted at number 2 on the ARIA charts (being pipped at the post for their 4th consecutive number one ARIA album debut by INXS through their recent revival.)
‘Flesh and Blood’ was the 4th highest selling Australian album for the first half of releases this year with the lead single ‘Only One’ achieving solid radio play across all formats.
As is his way John Butler feels right at home playing to fans around the world. 2014 has seen the band venture to all corners of the globe and through the 10 years of touring Australia and the world, John Butler continues to nurture a loyal and ever expanding fan base.
After a sold out Australian tour in March, and a career highlight performance at Bluesfest, the Trio headed overseas for an extended 4 month tour. This year they played major festivals including Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Outside Lands and Fuji Rock.
Plotted around their festival performances were headline shows, the pinnacle of which was their capacity Red Rocks , Colorado concert with nearly 10,000 people attending. This mind blowing live experience was followed by sold out shows through the USA and Canada and across Europe in prestigious venues such as Brixton Academy in London, The Olympia Theatre in Paris, The Paradiso in Amsterdam and the 4,000 capacity Palladium in Cologne. In between these capital cities are many smaller towns where JBT still played to thousands of people each night.
His several viral YouTube videos for his instrumental guitar opus Ocean exceed over 40 million views.
After touring the world JB returned home in time to host and participate in the 8th edition of The Seed Management Workshop with his partner Danielle, in the picturesque Blue Mountains where 25 aspiring managers and self managed artists gathered in the Clarendon Guesthouse for three intensive days of workshops and panels presided over by the country’s music industry leaders.
The John Butler Trio will be hitting the road again this October in Australia, Japan and USA before finishing 2014 and beginning 2015 playing the fantastic Fall’s and Southbound Festivals in Australia.
